Montréal is Canada's second-largest city and the heart of French-speaking Quebec. It was founded in 1642 as Ville-Marie on an island in the St. Lawrence River and takes its name from Mount Royal, the hill that rises above downtown.

For us Montréal is home: every MOTORNYI BURUNDUK group leaves from here. Please arrive 15 minutes before departure so we can get to know each other and settle in calmly.

    Montmorency Falls

An 83-metre waterfall — about 30 metres taller than Niagara. A suspension bridge right over the torrent and a cable car.

The Montmorency River drops off the edge of the Canadian Shield straight into the St. Lawrence. Samuel de Champlain named the falls in 1613 after Henri II, Duke of Montmorency, then Viceroy of New France.

A suspension bridge spans the top of the falls — standing on it you can feel the air shake. You can climb to the top by the staircase (almost 500 steps) or ride the cable car. In winter the spray freezes into a huge ice cone locals call the "sugar loaf" (pain de sucre).

Samuel de Champlain founded Québec in 1608, making it one of the oldest European cities in North America. The Upper Town sits on a cliff above the river; the Lower Town huddles by the water around Place Royale.

The historic district was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985. Above it all stands the Château Frontenac (1893), often called the most photographed hotel in the world. Walk along the Dufferin Terrace and down the narrow Rue du Petit-Champlain, one of the oldest shopping streets on the continent.
